This means that you can easily follow us in the most popular microblogging platform on the Web.

ASSYT portal small layout changes

Today we rolled out some small changes in the main page of the assyst complexity website. The changes are very small but allow for a more fluid reading, with a better structured information.

We hope to improve it in the near future with new features. In the meanwhile can you spot the changes?

ASSYST+Partners News in Your Website

If you want to put the ASSYST+Partners news in your website like in the Box bellow, you now can.

Just copy the script from the textarea below to your HTML code where you want it to appear and thats it. ASSYST and IT’s partners will update their feeds and you’ll have your news updated automatically in your website.

The ASSYST team had it’s anual review in Brussels. The four IP partners where also present for their Reviews. This time was used as an opportunity to have a FET Proactive: COSI-ICT Cluster Wokshop in the 25th where the Integrated Projects shown their project results and where a Round-table in the afternoon covered several aspects of interest to the community.

Several Updates

Today we took the opportunity to update some old code in the Conferences section. In terms of user experience there’s not much difference appart from a consolidated “topics” menu that is more helpful and complete. The main changes occurred in the backoffice.

Also while we prepare the next edition of the ASSYST/CSS Newsletter we updated the Complex Systems Conferences Map 2010 with new entries. Check it out!

We are on Twitter

We are on Twitter!

Twitter, is a microblogging service that is very popular. Assyst now is also in Twitter and you can follow us there. We’ll keep you updated on the latest news, conferences and videos.

jQuery in Conferences

We’ve been playing with jQuery for some things in the Portal. Today we Added a little bit of spicy jQuery stuff to the Conferences column.

This way we manage to squeeze both Open Calls and Next Events into the same space. And the beauty is that if the Website degrades as the user doesn’t have Javascript ON… it still works… Try it!

ASSYSTComplexity RSS Feed

ASSYSTComplexity RSS Feed:
We finally added the RSS feed to the main site. This had been under testing for some time now, but only now we did manage to make it work.

The RSS feed is populated with the latest news from the Portal and the Digital Library will follow next. If you use Google Reader, Net News Wire or any other RSS aggregator you can now subscribe to the ASSYSTComplexity RSS Feed.

Lot's of small updates

Today we did some minor updates in the site. Mainly things to improve performance, some tweaks, and stuff… but this implied that for moments (during the afternoon) the site was down.

If you happened to be visiting the site during those times, please accept our apologies. We’re working to make it a little better, step by step.

We were at ECCS recording some of the presentations!...

We were at ECCS recording some of the presentations! unfortunately it wasn’t possible to record all the tracks and all the sessions. we’re now editing the presentations and will soon upload them to the AssystComplexity Web portal.

Success Stories

We started publishing the Success Stories in Complexity in the Community Section of the ASSYST Portal. First story featured in the Portal is the case of Professor George Rzevski.

Bug in Ical

There was a bug in the Ical sub-application that made conferences shorter by 1 day! It is now fixed and everything should be working now.

Conferences in your Calendar manager.

We’ve been playing with the calendar of the conferences section at the AssystComplexity Portal and we created an iCalendar so yeu can subscribe to the iCalendar in your computers.

The address for the iCalendar is http://assystcomplexity.eu/short/assyst-conferences.ics and you can subscribe it with several programs like iCal, Microsoft Outlook 2007, Microsoft Entrourage or even in the Google Calendar Service.

See the list of software and services that can use iCalendar subscriptions.

Web Portal Maintenance

Today we’ll be doing some maintenance in the website and because of that it might be down from time to time. Also because of that we changed the blog location (now at blog.assystcomplexity.eu) to an external server, to make it accessible even when the main server is down! We hope that the server will be down for a short time, but we promise to work hard to fix everything quickly.

13:32 - We’ve finished the updates! Everything should be running smoothly now. If anything is broken, please send us a message or leave a comment here.

WE DO SEARCH

We just deployed a search functionality in the Portal. It allows for quick access to the news and conferences results and we will be extending this in the near future to the community and the digital library sections as soon as we roll out those features.

You can use it in the front page entering your queries in the right form. Also you can access directly at assystcomplexity.eu

NEW DYNAMIC LOGO

We just launched a new version of the portal with a Logo that is radically different from the previous one. The previous couldn’t be used as Assyst doesn’t have the copyright of some graphical elements present and so we started creating a new one.

The idea behind this logo is that it is dynamic. The L-system isn’t always equal. I imagine that it conveys some sense of dynamics but keeps some reproducibility. We’ve been experimenting with Processing as it allows for good visualization of the ideas and we are testing several ideas for it.

The main idea is that it should have a static text with some dynamic behavior in the background. What do you think? Send your suggestions via de the contact form.

THE LORENZ RAINMAKERS

We are starting this complex system… and we’ve decided that the Blog should be something informal, something to give out the behind the scenes of the portal development. With little pieces of how things were done, our mistakes, and also our small vitories.

We hope you enjoy it as much as we do making it happen.
